Poland; My First Solo Adventure Travel Part 1

Hey everyone ! In this post I'm gonna share my experience travelling alone to Poland ! :)

I went there on 28-31 May 2013 which was actually on last week (Aww..how time flies~~)

Previously I was planning on going to Germany as my solo trip but I've changed my mind and go to Estonia & Lithuania with Yapp after our exam. But I still have the temptation to go travel alone and so I just searched 'To everywhere' in Skyscanner (wherever is cheap XD) and I chose Poland at the end ! :D

Some friends did ask me why did I choose Poland (as it is at Eastern Europe where people will consider it as a not-really-safe place) and why I dare to travel alone etc XD

But in life there's sure something new and adventurous that you need to/wanna try when you have an opportunity to do so :) The reason why I chose Poland obviously because it's CHEAP as I just searched 'anywhere' in Skyscanner XD But actually I didn't really mind where to go as I just wanna try something different, a different experience by travelling alone. :)

Usually I'm just acting as 'Follower' wherever I go for a trip with my friends. My friends will usually become the 'Leader' and planned everything throughout the journey. And basically I'm really bad in direction so no point of asking me to look at the map and tell you where to go XD

My journey to Poland was a bit rush as it was only 2 days after I came back from Lithuania. I've stopped by in London for 1 night to meet up with my US colleague on the next day. So basically..

25 May - Reached London
26 May- Reached Sunderland at 9.30pm
27 May- Go Manchester at 7pm

I only had less than 24 hours in my room +.+ But oh well, it was my own decision to save $$ :p

My flight departs at Manchester so I have to travel down to Manchester to catch up my flight which was supposed at 7am (so that's why I go Manchester the day before my flight). But I was so unlucky to receive an email from Ryanair informing me that my flight had been delayed to 9am. So means that I have 2 more hours in Manchester airport and 2 hours less in Poland =.= It was a nightmare staying in the airport without friends for 8 hours ! Sigh..

As my Poland trip was a bit rush, I didn't really check out what to do in Poland. My flight is gonna arrive in Krakow and at the beginning I was just planning to walk around Krakow for that 3 days until I saw another hidden city near Krakow, Zakopane.

I was amazed with the beauty of Zakopane and therefore I've changed my whole journey so that I can go there XD

So my journey basically was

28 May- Arrives Krakow and take coach to Zakopane (2.5 hours journey)
30 May- Leaves Zakopane and back to Krakow
31 May- Leaves Krakow and take a shuttle to Katowice (1.5 hours)

It sounds funny right as my departure and arrival airport were at 2 different cities..but flight to and from Poland are not really frequent and of course by setting your journey in this way, you can save $$ XD

28 May (First Day)
------------------
I've reached Krakow around 1pm and seriously maybe only few Asians travelling alone to Poland, the custom officer was quite strict to me and took quite a long time where she even called someone to check my hostel details =.=

Since my flight was delayed and I need to travel to Zakopane that takes 2.5 hours journey on the same day, in my mind was like 'Why you don't let my gooooo ??'  Hahaha ! And at first I was planning to get on a train to city centre but I ended up getting a bus due to time constraint. Sigh..
I was thinking 'why everything didn't go as planned?'

Oh..and I totally don't understand what Polish people are talking about. My mind was full with '???' and 'what the heck are you talking about?' XD

But still, I've managed to arrive Zakopane safely around 5.30pm :D Yeah !

 My hostel :)

 Information Centre
Too bad it was closed so I couldn't get the map of the city on that day. I did get a map on the next day but I didn't use it at all in that 2 days -.-

 Krupowki Street
Snapped a pic of a 'bear' with the 'Welcome to Zakopane' banner

 Horse carriage

A stall selling Placki (Polish potato pancakes)

Placki with garlic sauce (3 zt each)

I had my dinner here as it was quite late and I was too lazy to walk around (energy low state). It is a buffet style restaurant and you can just grab any food that you like and you pay according to the weight of the food that you took :)
(100g-3 zt)

A bit of rice, meatball and a hmm..I don't know what is that, it's a meat with some mushroom, cheese etc inside. (16.74 zt)
But I didn't finish it because I was too full as I had placki 5 minutes before my dinner XD

 Bubbles !

That's all for my first day ! And I got back to my hostel to recharge my body after the long journey to here :p

Oh ! And I was staying only with a guy in 6-bed dorm XD
Maybe because it was weekday so my hostel was not busy. The guy is an Australian working in London. He's quite good looking XD hahaha ! But this is not the main point, funny thing on the next day after he left XD

Gonna sleep soon !

To be continued.....
